Today, Fujifilm is announcing a new firmware update for their XE-2 camera. According to their press release, after the camera is updated the EVF will have a lag time of 0.005 seconds–which they’re saying is on par with optical viewfinders. To boot, it will also enhance the framerate of the viewfinder that will maintain this speed even in very low light conditions.
Another feature that the firmware boasts are allowing the user to make the focus peaking either red or blue in addition to the original white color.
Plus it will add customizable functions for the Fn buttons and AE/AF buttons where you can add face detection. The EVF/LCD button can now be set to four different modes: “Eye Sensor Mode” (automatically switches the EVF and LCD displays when the user’s eye comes close to the viewfinder), “EVF Only,” “LCD Only” and “EVF Only + Eye Sensor.”
Finally, there is a suppressed flash setting where the flash does not fire even when the subject is poorly lit. You can check out the new firmware over at Fujifilm’s page. But if you’re still considering the camera, check out our XE-2 review.
