With the recent introduction of a much more toned down and gorgeous looking Nikon 1 V3 we’re a bit surprised to hear early reports that a Nikon 1 J4 is also in the works. Nikon Rumors has it on good authority that the Nikon 1 J4 will feature a LCD touchscreen just like it’s predecessor along with a flash sync speed of 1/60 of a second. Supposedly in the same future announcement, Nikon will introduce a new lightweight 20oz (or 550g) all-plastic 18-300mm (f6.3 at 300mm) super zoom lens.
There were not any details of when this new mirrorless Nikon camera would be announced. But it should be interesting to see how the Japanese camera company positions the new 1 J4 especially when the Nikon 1 V3 has been nipped and tucked to make it much more pocketable and refined. Perhaps the 1 V3 will be even smaller giving the Panasonic GM1 and Samsung NX Mini a run for their money.
