For CP+ today, Canon is announcing their brand new Rebel T5–except that it’s mostly an older camera. The new Rebel T5 sits above below the Rebel SL1, which we really loved. It has a previously used 18MP APS-C sensor, DIGIC 4 processor, has an ISO range of 100-6400, 9 AF points with the center one being a Servo tracking type, and 3 fps. Yup, it’s the most bare bones Rebel that you can get your hands on, but it’s targeted at the really budget conscious consumer.
According to the company’s press release, “the Canon EOS Rebel T5 Digital SLR Camera bundled with an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens is scheduled to be available in March for an estimated retail price of $549.99.”
That’s more expensive than Sony’s A3000. More images of the new camera are after the jump.
