There were rumors for a while. Everybody got excited. They said that Jony Ive was going to design a one-of-a-kind Leica M. Imagine that, one of the most awesome cameras around, in a new suit designed by the guy who is responsible for all the latest Apple products. But what was it going to look like? An iPod? Well, here’s the answer: it looks like a drawing of my four-year-old. No, seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an uglier camera. Just look at it. It’s hideous! But that doesn’t matter at all. And you know why? Because it’s for charity. This one-of-a-kind Leica M is going to be auctioned off at Sotheby’s on November 23rd, and the money will go to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. So if you’re rich and don’t mind owning the ugliest camera in the world, go for it. It’s for a good cause after all.
More ugliness after the break.
