Nikon just announced the world’s firts water-, shock-, and freeze-proof mirrorless camera, the 1 AW1. Together with the camera, the company also introduces two equally rugged 1-series lenses to go with it: the 1 Nikkor AW 10mm f2.8 and the 1 Nikkor AW 11-27.5mm f3.5-5.6. The camera and lenses are aimed at outdoor junkies such as snorklers and hikers, as they can sustain depths of up to 49 ft (15 m), drops from up to 6.6 ft (2 m) and temperatures as low as 14° F (-10° C). In addition to all that ruggedness, the 1 AW1 comes with a new 14.2 megapixel sensor, a dual-AF system as well as an altimeter and depth gauge for those taking it to new heights and depths both above and below sea-level.
