The #nofilter hashtag is mighty popular, and it’s one that is used by many to show that their image is just that good. Unfortunately, there are those who abuse it, and it’s given rise to a blog dedicated to exposing those liars. Filter Fakers analyzes photos tagged with #nofilter, and if it finds that the tag is misused, they publicly shame the photographer with banners along the top left corner that read: #yesfilter, fraud, phony, or faker, among other terms. The process is automated, and the photos exposed are a mixed bag. Most are of the dreaded “selfie” variety whereas others look quite nice, save the minor dishonesty regarding the lack of filter. I wonder how long Filter Fakers will survive before everybody gets the message.
