If you purchased a camera and there was a secret, hidden feature that you didn’t have access to, how pissed off would you be? It’s been happening a lot. Canon’s 5D series of cameras had a Cine DNG RAW output that was unlocked by the guys at Magic Lantern, and their 50D camera has a hidden microphone perhaps for video as well. There have also been reports that focus peaking could be in the Olympus OMD EM5.

But this time around, the hidden feature comes from a company that is much smallerL Lytro. With the announcement of a recent firmware update, the camera enabled a hidden feature. The Lytro cameras had wifi for a while, and now it is being paired with a special iOS app. It allows you to wirelessly transfer your images to your device and play with them there. According to Gizmodo, the app also creates GIFs that shift the focusing perspective throughout. Think of it as focusing your lens back and forth really quickly.
