Kuuvik Capture Lets You Tether Your Canon DSLR to Your Mac

Previously we saw the Nikon tether loving folks get some love with DigiCam Control. However that was freeware and for Windows. Canon DSLR owners though can spring for Kuuvik Capture, a brand new software meant for tethering and that looks a lot like Lightroom. First off, this isn’t freeware, but you can get the software for a 30 day trial if you wish. Now if that hasn’t deterred you, the software offers loads of features to help with composition, focusing and the evaluation of proper exposure (e.g. split screen live view zoomed in to multiple image areas, focus peaking, RAW histogram, and unitary white balance). The software is Mac-only, and currently supports newer Canon DSLRs from the 5D Mk II and on.

Depending in which package you go for, it can run you $79.99 or $99.99. For the money though, we still support Lightroom–which is going for a price smack dab in between these two right now.

When Canon introduced their new Mirrorless cameras earlier on this year (The EOS R) one of the stand out features was that the lens mount was so huge. In a recently released interview, Canon engineers seem to be having a sly dig at Sony by saying that lenses with smaller mounts are far less capable than those with larger mounts. The New Nikon P1000 Has a 125x Optical Zoom with a Laughable 1/2.3 inch Sensor for $999.95

Today, for some odd reason, the Nikon P1000 point and shoot camera is being announced. Odd, you ask? The fact that it is a point and shoot isn’t such a big issue at all; but the fact that it’s a superzoom camera being marketed as one with a 125x optical zoom is what’s insane. Kudos to Nikon for being able to do something like this; but then you read the fine print (or in this case, print that’s not even in the press release) and see the bait and switch–this Nikkor lens is having its potential wasted by being placed in front of a 1/2.3 inch sensor.
