Today SLR Magic has released an updated version of their previous digiscoping lens. The improvements are said to be better contrast and sharpness because of its new MFT adapter. The lens when put in 35mm equivalent terms comes out to 840-2520mm. What I really want to see is how well the OMD’s 5 axis stabilization handles that! Another fun trick would be to see how well the GH2’s ex-Tele mode would work, it would give a focal length around 6500mm!
The lens comes with premium extra-low dispersion glass with multi coated optics. Besides being fitting with a MFT mount it also has a tripod collar. In case you haven’t heard of digiscoping it’s essentially poor mans birding gear. Lensrentals recently compared a spotting scope to a high end canon telephoto lens to see how it stacks up.
The lens will be available from SLR Magic dealers by June of this year for $799.
