In extreme situations the plastic mount on the GoPro Hero 3 just may not be sturdy enough. For a camera to be used professionally, it has to adapt to specific rigs and have the ports to do so. Wide Open Camera has taken to Kickstarter to raise the initial cash to fund the project to build 100 of the very first Combat Cages. It should be mentioned that the final product will be anodized flat black instead of silver seen above.
The Combat Cage will feature 5 1/4″ and 3 3/8″ threading mounting points. These will be on the sides as well as the bottom of the unit. There is also a GoPro mount built into the Cage and it allows you to leave the casing attached while you remove the camera.
