Today Fotodiox has released a really fancy USB follow focus for Canon. Products like this make the Nikon fanboy inside me really jealous … Other follow focus systems have been available, but they were basic in the way that they just changed focus. The Aputure V-Control has the ability to not only control focus with its slick dial, but also change modes. Additionally, it offers total exposure control (shutter, ISO and aperture), four focus point presets in video mode, an LCD display for settings and total control via live view.
As I mentioned, other companies have made similar products–like the FC1 from okii–but this is in my opinion unique in the way that it offers more controls. Also, when comparing the price between the two, the FC1 comes in at $350 and the new Aputure V-Control will be selling for $180. The product is new, so therefore information is limited to a spec list. But if you want to read more about the new USB follow focus from Fotodiox, check the product out on their website here.
