Profoto dropped a big bomb on the lighting market today with the announcement of their brand new Pro-10 studio strobe, now the world’s fastest, which is capable of stopping motion at 1/80,000th of a second — allowing it to keep up with even the fastest of today’s cameras.
In addition to the blazing fast speed, the new Profoto Pro-10 features an energy range of 11 stops, and power output can be controlled in full stops or down to 1/10th stops. In terms of recycle times, the Pro-10 is no slouch with a recycle time of .02-.7 seconds and is capable of up to 50 quick burst flashes per second.
The Pro-10 is HSS capable up to 1/8000th of a second and is also compatible with Profoto’s AirTTL wireless system, making it not only powerful but versatile as well. The cube-shaped flash will weigh in around 30lbs, so don’t expect to take this guy virtually anywhere like the battery-powered B1’s.
No official pricing was announced, but more information (as well as examples, testimonials, etc) may be found over on Profoto’s Pro-10 product mini-site – here.
