Nearly six years ago, I had an idea at the height of the US’s second economic recession. Even with a network and contacts at my fingertips as a young journalist, I couldn’t secure a full time job at all. So I decided to start The Phoblographer. Later this year, we’re celebrating our sixth year of bringing you quality reviews, news, tutorials, features and interviews with a unique voice on the internet; but today we’re celebrating a huge step forward for our company.
Two years of hard work, many setbacks, a site restructure and a business model change–and today we’re glad to finally announce our latest and most beautiful creation: The Phoblographer Mobile.
Fact: 75% of the Phoblographer’s traffic comes from mobile.
The Phoblographer Mobile, of course, only works on phones and tablets. Our desktop users will continue to receive the updates that we implemented earlier this year as well as a newly revamped and significantly faster search bar on the side of the site.
If you don’t see our new mobile theme: we’re only now rolling it out so it’ll take a bit of time. Just click into a story and you should see it come to life.
How to Use The Phoblographer Mobile
The Phoblographer Mobile is not an app, it’s our mobile website that you can access just by visiting our site on your smartphone or tablet. We’ve worked with a third party company to create a Phoblographer mobile experience that is very unique and is bound to keep you glued to your screen for a while.
From our new Homepage, you can choose to scroll down and choose an article or have quick navigation to another section when using a smartphone. In order to do that, simply swipe right or left to go to another category of the site. To unlock even more categories, tap on the hamburger icon on the top left.
To get back to the homepage, simply tap the X icon in the top right.
As you go into an article, you can swipe to the right to get to the next blog post or swipe left to go to the previous one. For tablet users, swiping takes you to the next page in the article.
If you continue to scroll down further into the articles you’ll find sharing options and our comment section.
By clicking on our images, you’ll bring up a lightbox that lets you view them in a larger format. Tap them again to get out of that view and return to the article.
We genuinely hope that you enjoy the Phoblographer Mobile. Lots of care and thought was put into its design and we believe that you’ll thoroughly enjoy our content even more. We encourage you to flip though and become even more captivated by all the great imagery that we featured on a daily basis.
If you find any problems, please send us an email at admins@thephoblographer.com and we’ll try to get on top of it as soon as possible.
