Fujifilm’s FP-3000B 3×4 Instant Film Will Be Discontinued Soon

We received a tip today that Fujifilm will be discontinuing their FP-3000B Instant Black and White film. As it is, this is the only black and white instant film available in the 3×4 size currently on the market. We placed a call to one of our affiliate dealers today and they indeed confirmed that the last order of the film will soon be placed.

The only way that someone will soon be able to snag Black and White instant film is to go through the Impossible Project. However, it won’t be the size that you’ll necessarily want as they don’t produce any 3×4 films at the moment. And despite what some may think about instant film now, this one was actually quite important. Back in the medium format film days (and even now) this was often used in an instant back as a proof along with its siblings 100-C and 100-B (the color and black and white variant respectively in ISO 100.) FP-3000B often develops super quickly after shooting an exposure too. But the only thing that you ever needed to keep in mind is that it is always at ISO 3000–which means that it is super sensitive to light.

We’re estimating that the film should probably last until the end of next year unless someone decides that they want to end up on the latest episode of the hit TV show, “Hoarders.” On a personal note though, I shoot lots of 3×4 Instant Film for personal work–though it has had to take a back seat to much of the work that I do here on The Phoblographer. This deeply saddens me.
