The Japan-based Camera & Imaging Products Association released new numbers for camera shipments for the first half of 2013. The numbers aren’t so good. This year so far has seen 3.6 million units sold against 4.3 million last year, and the mirrorless folk aren’t doing so well either: 710,000 this year versus 882,000 for the first half of 2012. Everyone seems to be suffering in the US market with companies posting smaller projections than last year, and one would hope that the upcoming Christmas season will inject some life into flagging sales.
Yet, the numbers suggest otherwise, and the camera market stands to shrink, sadly.
