This is what can happen if you sell your internet startup to one of the big fish: they’ll eat you alive. Only six months after acquiring the online photo sharing community Snapjoy, Dropbox now announces of shutting the service down. It doesn’t seem as if Dropbox has anly plans to integrate Snapjoy into their own service, since the official announcement states that by July 24th, “all photos and data will be permanently deleted.” Wow. What a courtesy to the users. If it’s any consolation, it appears you can export your whole Snapjoy collection to your computer, should you not have already backed it up somewhere. Well then, if you’re a Snapjoy user and are looking for a new place to store your photos, Flickr has recently decided to give all users 1 TB of free space–which should last most of us for quite a while.
