Dearest Readers,
We are three years old as of yesterday, 12/28/2012. The Phoblographer has been through a crazy run so far and we can’t tell you how much we appreciate all that you do for us as our readers, followers, friends, and supporters.
This site was started out of frustration for the economic situation upon my graduating college. Faced with not a lot of options in the freelance world for photography and writing three years ago, I created the site because I was just so sick of it all in an attempt to lay the foundation for something that would not only support me, but other creatives that I wanted to bring on board. And today, our staff numbers 10 people–with many faces coming and going. I’m proud to say that we’re an extremely happy bunch and the core writers that you’ve come to know and love all will keep delivering more content to you as you see fit.
As a business owner, I’ve talked with many other entrepreneurs that are helping to redefine the American business every day. And many of them tell you that the first year you start a business is the toughest. But there isn’t a day that I wake up and tell myself that I regret the decisions that we’ve made in building this site.
I humbly disagree–I believe that the first year after you quit your day job and start running your business full time is the toughest. The Phoblographer has some increasing high traffic numbers with us bringing in over 1 million uniques a month now; and with that there are loads of expenses–our latest server bill being the one that made me almost lose it this morning. And that’s why we always appreciate donations. Indeed, growing pains are sometimes extremely taxing.
Edit: Click the donation tab on the right.
So what’s next for us? First off, you’ll see us at CES 2013–so the news team and I will be bringing you the latest. I can already tell you that you’ll be seeing some recurring trends in the industry despite the recovery from the natural disasters in the orient. We also plan on bringing you more features, reviews, tips, guides, and contests.
But most of all, we’d like to hear from you. Where do you want us to go? What are we doing right and where can we improve?
That’s all for now, and I appreciate you reading this note. Raise a glass to more successes in the future.
Cheers,
Chris Gampat
