Chinese lens manufacturer, Brightin Star, has launched a new UV filter that is an exceptional offering for landscape and outdoor photographers. The company has already introduced some exciting prime lenses, but now, they are further solidifying their name in the camera accessory market. This results in the announcement of the AERO UV filter, which was first unveiled at NAB 2026. Here’s a look at what the filter can do and how it is priced.
The Brightin Star AERO UV filter comes with Nano IMC coating, which uses anno structures rather than conventional thin-film coatings to reduce reflections. This results in a measured reflection of just 0.048% and light transmittance of 99.807%. For context, Brightin Star states that the uncoated piece of glass will reflect 4% light, but with the coating, it is near zero.

The glass of the filter is created with the German Schott B270, which is known for its controlled refractive index and dispersion values. The UV filter is ultra slim, with a standard 1.1mm thickness down to just 0.7mm. This means when the filter is on, it is barely visible and in your way.

In addition, the UV filter is made with a brass frame, which is sturdier and has better thermal stability than aluminum alloy, notes the company. In fact, the anti-reflective property also prevents internal lens reflection, which further reduces the chances of flare. Here’s a look at its specs:

UV filters are often used as protection for the lens, not just from sunlight, but also from accidents. A filter can often take the impact of a fall or slip much better by protecting the front of the lens. Thus, a filter is what most photographers opt for, especially when they are shooting outdoors. A budget-friendly filter that further helps to reduce reflection is only a plus point.
Brightin Star is competing with brands such as K&F Concept, Urth, and Hoya amongst others, with each company promising similar results at a different price point. K&F has multiple offerings ranging from $25 all the way to $45. In that regard, the brand is in direct competition with Brightin Star. However, K&F uses aluminum alloy, instead of brass, which gives photographers a chance to try a different material for around the same price.
Available in two different colors, Brightin Star is also looking at aesthetics, allowing photographers with a silver lens to get a color that will work best for them. For young photographers and serious enthusiasts, Brightin Star’s offering is worth checking out.
