Cosina’s Voigtlander has been launching some interesting lenses for photographers. Models such as the APO-Lanthar 65mm f2, Nokton 21mm f1.4, and Lanthar 50mm f2 are examples of how the company is trying to introduce wide-aperture primes. Joining this list are three upcoming lenses, which will be showcased at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center. Here’s a look at what they offer.
First reported by Photo Rumors, the three lenses are Nokton Classic 35mm f1.4, Apo-Skopar 75mm f2.8, and Apo-Lanthar 90mm f4. They will be available for Nikon, Canon, and Leica M mounts.

Apo-Lanthar 90mm f4 Close Focus (VM-mount)

The Apo-Lanthar lenses are the company’s highest optical design. They are often created for close-up performance, while offering a slim, portable build.
- Optical Design: High-performance APO formula.
- Optical Design: 8 elements in 7 groups (Apochromatic)
- Angle of View: 27.5 degrees
- Diaphragm: 10-blade aperture
- Focusing:
- Minimum Object Distance: 0.5m (Close-focus capable)
- Rangefinder Coupling: Infinity to 0.7m
- Special Feature: Tactile “focusing click” at 0.7m to signal the end of rangefinder linkage.
- Dimensions & Weight: 53 x 54.8mm | 235g
- Build: Aluminum with a 43mm filter size
Alongside the lenses, Voigtlander has introduced UV filters. They are designed to complement the lenses and block UV rays below 417nm. These filters are available in sizes 38mm to 82mm, and have knurling and finishes to match the lenses.
The 35mm lens will certainly face more competition, given how often third-party lens makers have launched lenses in this focal range. As for 75mm and 90mm, only Ziess, Tamron, and Meyer Optik offer these focal ranges, which will give Voigtlander a better chance to compete.
