Not too long ago, there were reports of Canon introducing new wide-angle lenses. And early this morning, they finally launched the 14mm and 7-14mm lenses. However, there was also another surprise alongside this: a new limited edition G7X Mk III. Here is a look at the gear and how it is helpful.
Canon 7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L Fisheye STM

The Canon 7-14mm is the widest lens from the company with a maximum 190° field of view. It offers a circular look at 7mm, and a diagonal 180° fisheye at 14mm (telephoto). The lens is also brighter than its predecessor EF 8-15mm f4L Fisheye USM. It also supports Canon EF-to-EOS R mount adapter drop-in filters. Here are some other specs:

- 16 elements in 11 groups, including 5 Ultra-low Dispersion elements, and 2 Aspheric elements
- 9 apertire bades
- Close focusing distance of 0.15m
- Magnification of 0.35x
- Leadscrew-type STM focus drive
- 76.5mm x 109.4mm in size and weighs 476g
- Conversion of 2D VR images is possible with cameras such as the R5 and the R5 II, and the R6 II
- Priced at $1,899
The lens will certainly be loved by creative photographers who want a new option. The bright aperture will also make it easy to work in low light. It can be used by hybrid creators, and anyone who wants to create something unique. Given that there are not too many options, the price range is perfect for serious enthusiasts and professionals.
Canon 14mm F1.4 L VCM

The Canon 14mm f1.4 L VCM is the brightest ultra-wide lens from the company and is an updated version of the 14mm f2.8L II USM. Designed for landscape, astro, architecture photographers, and street shooters, the lens also works well for a hybrid shooting experience. The VCM motors are said to offer fast autofocus and reduce focus breathing. Some of its specs include:

- 18 elements in 13 groups, including Canon’s first Fluorite element in an ultra-wide-angle lens, BR Optics, 1 UD lens, and 3 GMo aspheric lenses
- A close focusing distance of 0.24m
- 11 aperture blades
- Weather sealing and coatings
- 6.5mm x 112mm and weighs 578g
- Iris ring compatible with R1, R5 II, and R6 III cameras
- Priced at $2,599
The lens offers a lot, given that it is the brightest offering. However, Sigma also offers the same focal range with the 14mm f1.4 Art, which costs $200 less than the Canon version. However, the plus point is that Canon’s lens offers AF focus, which is what most photographers will go after.
Canon G7X MK III

The Canon G7X MK III has been announced to mark the 30th anniversary of the company’s PowerShot compact digital camera series. The model offers a limited color body, graphite, and a special logo.
The first PowerShot was the 600, which was launched in July 1996. Since then, they have expanded the line to include 200 PowerShot cameras in the Americas. The new camera offers a 1-inch 20MP CMOS sensor with a 4.2x optical zoom lens. Since this is focused on vloggers, there is a “Video Blog” mode for just this need.
The camera will be available from April 2026 at $1,299. However, the number of units is still unclear. Given how popular the cameras are, it remains to be seen whether they will be available to everyone, since they are already everyone’s favourite.
