Over the years, The Phoblographer team has transitioned from editing images in Adobe Lightroom to Capture One. One of the reasons is that the latter is more efficient and offers a variety of tools that can help reduce the world’s load. With Capture One becoming a more prominent option for many photographers, Leica today announces a new partnership with the image editing platform to enhance the user experience. Here is a look at what Leica photographers stand to gain.
The collaboration between the companies is designed to deliver “the most powerful and reliable tethered shooting experience and editing tools for Leica photographers.” This includes on-location creations to studio professionals, who may require tethering for their needs. In addition, this partnership aims to provide direct, stable, and high-speed tethered connectivity, thereby reducing the need to rely on other platforms. As a result, Leica photographers have the opportunity to gain instant image transfer, precise Live View functionality, and real-time adjustments, which enable them to shoot and edit according to their specific demands and needs.
“Capture One remains the best tethering solution on the market,” said Nico Koehler, Head of Product Experience at Leica Camera AG, “and together we’re enabling Leica photographers to experience the most reliable and seamless tethered workflow available today.”
Additionally, Capture One will enable users to work more effectively with color science and profiles specifically designed for Leica cameras. This means that photographers can now have better tonal control, which can help them work with the stunning colors of the Leica M9, M11, or Q3. For instance, during our M11 review, Capture One provided us with an exciting dynamic range result, which is critical if you happen to over- or underexpose your images by a few stops.
With the new collaboration, Leica and Capture One are working on an exclusive trial program, which will provide Leica users with complimentary access to the image editing portal’s All-in-One plan. Photographers can now enjoy better flexibility in their workflow, as well as increased speed and precision to enhance their creativity. Participants who are interested in participating in the program can register on Leica’s website to receive their personal trial license and setup guidance.
In other words, since the Adobe plan is becoming increasingly expensive and AI tools are now a major part of their portfolio, photographers have no choice but to consider other offerings. However, we hope that the pricing of Capture One software is not too high, as this can affect some photographers. But with that aside, Capture One can truly help Leica photographers to achieve a more flexible workflow with ease.
