Hasselblad creates iconic medium format cameras and a series of unique lenses, each built to aid photographers in their artistic journey. For instance, the V series (V stands for versatile) is a performance horse designed to achieve exceptional image quality. The E series (E stands for exclusive) is a higher-end model for people who need outstanding results. The P series (P stands for portable) is designed with simplicity and compactness in mind. This lens is for anyone wanting a smaller lens that performs with precision. And now, Hasselblad has launched a new iteration in this lineup: XCD 3,4/75P lens.
What Does The New Hasselblad Lens Offer?
So far, the P series has two models: the XCD 4/45P and the XCD 4/28P. The former is designed for adventure photography, while the latter is the one for street photographers. And now, the XCD 3,4/75P is the newest addition, making it the longest focal range in the P series. Specifically designed for portraits, streets, and still life, the lens weighs a mere 398g and measures 71mm in length. Like the other Hasselblad lenses, the exterior is smooth, with an H engraved on it on the focus ring.

On the inside, the lens features 10 elements in 10 groups, including one aspherical element and three ED elements. Despite its compactness, the optical element is supposed to help photographers capture pristine images with their 100MP cameras. Furthermore, the additional elements are said to suppress chromatic dispersion. The f3,4 aperture is also reportedly going to help achieve pleasing results in low-lit environments.
To ensure quick and snappy focus, the Hasselblad XCD 3,4/75P has a linear stepping motor and a lighter, smaller focusing lens group. The motor is supposed to help achieve more accurate focus, while the lens group will speed up the process. A leaf shutter suppresses any noise while allowing one up to 1/2000 second and full flash synchronization at all speeds.

The lens has been launched alongside the Hasselblad X Extension Tube (9mm) to extend the distance between the and the sensor. This will help achieve close-up capabilities and is available for X System cameras, 907X cameras, and XCD series lenses.
What Makes This Lens A Perfect Companion?
Our reviewers have often loved the lenses from German and Swedish lens makers. That’s because their lenses are unique and have character. The distinction between a soft background and a sharp subject is unlike anything we have seen before. And that only goes to prove how clean they perform. This may not be liked by some, but many would appreciate it. For instance, in our review of the 90mm f2.5, we mentioned: ” The image quality and overall performance are also wonderful. In fact, I think that for the right photographer, this could be the perfect lens. But for me, there’s no chemistry, spark, or romance.”
If you appreciate clean images with soft bokeh, this lens could be for you. Watch our review to get a better understanding of where this lens stands. Perhaps it is something you need for outdoor shoots, or maybe the quality inspires you to make more images. Knowing how perfect Hasselblad is, you aren’t losing out on quality or experience here. And that is worth every penny.
The XCD 3,4/75P is available for $2,229, while the Extension Tube is for $299. For more information, visit Hasselblad’s website.
