What if I told you that you can now get a lens that allows you to switch between three prime focal lengths without changing the mount? Would you be excited, or do you believe I am bluffing? I am seriously not making this up. Rokinon has finally unveiled a new lens that allows you to travel light, thanks to this unique technology. The Rokinon Remaster Slim appears like a pancake lens while giving you enough liberty to get the shot you have been desiring.
How Does Rokinon Remaster Slim Work?
The Remaster lens is designed to honor the point-and-shoot film camera lenses and is available for both full-frame and APS-C Sony cameras. It is a modular system (RS AF Module) that allows users to switch between different focal lengths, namely 21mm f3.5, 28mm f3.5, and 32mm f2.8. This is achieved through a magnetic bayonet mount, which secures the lenses inside.
Another feature is its lightweight and compactness. The Rokinon Remaster Slim weighs only 66.5g, including the module and lens, and has a 19.5mm thickness. According to the company, this makes it 40% lighter than most pancake lenses. Yup, travel and street photography were never so easy. One can also update the lens firmware through a USB-C port.

The 21mm’s focusing distance is 0.18m, the 28mm’s is 0.30mm, and the 32mm’s is 0.37mm. The lens also has an AF/MF switch on the module alongside a focusing ring. Rokinon states that the focusing distance becomes even shorter in manual focus mode. Furthermore, an additional 49mm can also be attached.
Why You Should Consider Getting One
Priced at $399, the lens certainly provides varied options. It is better than getting three lenses, which could cost you a lot more than this. Furthermore, it comes in a case, making it easy to switch between the lenses. While travelers will enjoy this, so can street, landscape, and even event photographers. You can also take this along when hanging out with friends and family and create images as they come to you.
If you are wondering about the performance, then looking at the company’s track record, it is safe to say that the lens may perform well. We haven’t tested it yet, so we can guarantee the results. However, with a quick glance at our Rokinon and Samyang lens guide, you will see a plethora of options that prove that the company has been performing well. The image quality and autofocus performance are pleasing at the price they are being offered.
R
We would like other camera brands to try something like this to help ensure that photographers get more out of their lenses. With the prices of cameras and lenses skyrocketing in recent years, getting a three-in-one lens is not a bad idea.
