As festivities are set to begin in November, Fujifilm has decided to take matters into its own hands. The company is announcing a new immersive experience that is Christmas-themed and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Titled Santa’s Grotto, the event will begin on November 15 and continue until December 31. If you wonder about this mysterious occasion, scroll down and discover more.
Fujifilm Welcomes Children in an Exciting Way
Fujifilm House of Photography, one of the UK’s only brand stores, will feature a meet and greet with Santa and various activities to experience the company’s products. For instance, if one is looking to purchase a Fuji camera or lens, they can step into a garden studio, which has lights, accessories, backdrops, and more to help them get a hang of the gear. The store also has a few dedicated paid workshops lined up, which range from portrait photography to how to make images of Christmas in the city.
For those interested in fun activities, Fujifilm has planned fun games, including a calendar puzzle. Visitors can also create DIY Christmas cards and postcards. There is also a photobooth available with augmented reality backdrops and funhouse mirrors for making memorial family images. Fujifilm House of Photography also features a wall of images showcasing the best feature images captured at the store.
Children, too, will get a chance to experience the store unlike any other. In addition to Santa Grotto, children will also get a chance to get gifts from FujiFilm. There is also a Christmas-themed post office, where children can create a postcard from a photo of their choice and send it to Santa via snail mail.
There is a 30-pound fee for children, but complimentary free entry is available for adults. Families will get 30 minutes at the workshop and 3 minutes with Santa’s meet and greet.
Why it is Worth a Visit
Christmas is an exciting time to kick back and relax. But this little opportunity also allows you to be close to photography and introduce your children to the medium at an early age. Furthermore, they can learn a bit while having fun. Would I have wanted this to be designed a bit differently? Yes. For instance, the fee should be reduced so that more people can afford it. I would have also liked a section where kids can direct a photoshoot. It may be a bit more time-consuming than 30 minutes, but it is worth a shot. I would have also liked a workshop where children get a chance to design a photobook, too.
What we are getting is not entirely bad, but it seems to be more focused on a quick appreciation post on Instagram than on promoting proper learning. But since it is around the holidays, I can imagine why it is jazzy and fun. Perhaps parents can step in and help the children here. Start the day with the tour, but then carry on and look at other options out there centered around photography. For instance, an exhibition is a great start. You can show them around and understand their opinions and perceptions about the showcase. You can also take them to a bookstore to browse through some compelling photo books.
Fujifilm House of Photography is certainly a start to having a meaningful conversation with your children about the medium and nourishing their talent. And while you are at it, give them a toy camera to chronicle your wonderful day together.
