What makes black and white photography so important to you?
For most of my work black and white is a good choice because in the right light it helps to produce a look that is more stark yet sensual.
Colour tends to complicate the effect and detract from my subject areas. The intricacy of the urban environment shows off the full tonal range of the greyscale palette from pure white to the densest of blacks.

What inspires you to create photographs?
Photography is, for me, an aesthetic reaction to being in the city. Making pictures allows me to create order and form out of my responses to what I encounter everyday.
My focal point is not necessarily the subject itself but the space that surrounds it.

Why is black and white photography so important to our future in the art world?
Any form of photography is important, we are besieged with millions of pictures everyday, wherever we go.
How many of those will ever be looked back on again in the future is anyone’s guess.
However, I do think it’s important for people to express themselves through any art form in any way they wish.
I prefer black and white photography because it keeps me in touch with how I started out and where I have come from.
