Rangefinder-style cameras have been pretty fantastic. There are some different models that have been quite great for professionals and amateurs alike. If you are someone who is looking to buy a camera that fits into your bag with ease, these models will be of help.
Sony A7CR
Sony’s offering features a 61MP full frame sensor, along with a sturdy weather-sealing. The a7CR is pretty much like the a7R V in terms of the sensor and design. It offers great images, including a great dynamic range. The JPEGs look fantastic, and the RAW files also result in images that you can adore. In fact, you can make the best prints with the latter. The focusing speed is quick during the day, but in low light, the autofocus can struggle when shooting people of color. The design is nice, small, and pocketable, making the a7CR ideal for those who like lightweight cameras.
Panasonic Lumix S9
Panasonic has created some study cameras with deep grips but the S9 is far from that. Designed for street and travel photographers, the Panasonic S9 houses a 24MP sensor, a continuous shooting of 30fps, and a nice, comfortable design. For those who are used to grips may find it a little hard to hold. But once you get used to it, you’ll love the feel and controls. The design is simple, you get a dedicated LUT button, and the focusing speed is pretty quick. In fact, with some lenses, the camera can outperform. The images are another added bonus, as the colors are really nice. With LUTs, you can enhance them in camera, cutting your editing time. Since it’s an L-mount camera, you get plenty of lens options to work with as well. Overall, it is a camera that is worth your time.
Leica Q3
Leica has made some powerhouse cameras that one can always meet their demand. The Leica Q3 is a compact camera with a full frame sensor with 60MP resolution and a 28mm lens. There is an IP53 weather-sealing, has a macro-capable lens, and the camera has multiple dials and buttons around the camera. There is bird and animal AF, which means you can photograph pets. The images are great, the colors are superb, and the details are rich. Overall, Leica gives a distinct look, one that other cameras can not. As we added, “Despite a few splashes, I didn’t have any issues except needing to wipe the front of the lens.”
Panasonic L10
Another Panasonic offering, the L10 is a compact camera which is ideal for those keen on good street and travel photographers. It is a premium model which comes with a 20MP sensor, and a 24-75mm f1.7-2.8 lens. The model is a lot like the X100 series camera, which means the design is made of metal, and the front is magnesium. There is real-time LUT, and you also get a mechanical shutter is 1/2000th. The focusing system is great, and it is much faster than other smaller sensor cameras. It can also work well with people of color in low light. The image quality is ideal, the colors are nice, and JPEGs are fantastic. The battery life is ideal for every day and long shoots, and professional photographers will adore this one.
Fujifilm GFX100RF
Fujifilm’s GFX series is another rangefinder that is perfect for professionals who want a device with a fixed lens. The Fujifilm GFX100RF is perfect. It comes with a 100MP sensor, a 35mm fixed lens, and a 65:24 aspect ratio. The camera’s autofocus is quick and works wonderfully in any situation. Fujifilm also offers great colors, thanks to the sensor and the Fujifilm film simulation. The lens results in sharp photos, and the dynamic range is good too. In addition, you get a nice, lightweight design, and you can print the images with ease. Anyone with a creative vision will adore it.
