When it comes to purchasing cameras today, there are a few options to choose from. Either spend a lot of money to get the best gear, or buy second-hand full-frame options from a decade ago. However, there is a third option: buying a new APS-C camera. Here are two pretty great options you can buy right now. And here’s a big hint: you don’t need the newest gear.
Fujifilm X-T30

The X-T30 has been a popular choice for both professionals and serious enthusiasts alike. The company basically put the X-T3 inside the X-T30. It features a 26MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, ISO up to 51,200, and a 3-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD. With a burst rate of 30 fps, the camera can do a lot. The body is a lot like the X-T20, and it features multiple dials and controls that can be helpful. “Despite its compact form factor, the Fujifilm X-T30 feels every bit as solid in hand as its larger X Series brethren with the premium fit and finish to match,” we wrote in our review.
Like the design, the camera has powerful autofocus, which provides workhorse performance. It is consistent, snappy, and can track moving subjects with ease. In addition, the image quality is worth raving about. “The X-T30 certainly lives up to the Fujifilm pedigree and the image quality continues to impress,” we explained in our test. Images at ISO 3200 are also great. “There should be enough data in the images for you to bring up the shadows a bit if you’re shooting raw,” we wrote. Overall, the device can achieve a lot for different situations.
Fujifilm X-T30 II

The Fujifilm X-T30 II is the second iteration and comes with a 26MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, a burst rate of up to 11 fps, and 4K video at 30 fps. You also get multiple film simulation modes, and it has a classic SLR-style body. While we have not tested the camera, we did add what is different: “They’re removing the charger. They’re also giving it a new LCD screen and updating the firmware to have the autofocus to the Fujifilm XT4 level.”
Overall, the new camera is designed for enthusiast photographers, especially those working in street, travel, portrait, landscape, and everyday photography. It is also a great hybrid camera for video work, thanks to the 4K video. It is ideal for vloggers, content creators, and casual filmmakers. So, if people want a newer option with better LCD, then this one is for them.
