Smartphone cameras are important for many young creators who can’t afford basic models. However, with the vintage trend making a comeback, many photographers are looking at older cameras to get away from the usual digital images. To help those who want film-like images at a cost-effective price, Paper Shoot has introduced a new camera in exciting colors. Have a look.
The company has positioned itself as a camera brand with a solution for smartphone fatigue. As part of their latest launch, the Aura Paper Vintage Camera, Paper Shoot is offering a minimal, screen-free experience at just $169. The camera that they design offers playful options such as Garden Buzz, Midnight Meadow, Picnic Blanket, Retro Swirl, and Electric Garden, each of which can reveal one’s personal expression.

So, what makes it different? The camera is designed simply. There are no screens, menus, or editing options. You have a simple, thin frame, and once you press the shutter, the camera’s built-in film profile does the rest. The latter has four options: Classic, Black & White, Sepia, and Blue. And if one is interested in using them for clips, they can do so by creating short videos and time-lapse. The effects are applied in-camera, producing soft tones, gentle contrast, and a nostalgic aesthetic. Here are the specifications:
- Photo resolution: 20 megapixels
- Lens: 28mm f2.2 fixed-focus
- ISO: 100–3200 (Auto)
- Shutter speed: 1/30s – 1/2000s (Auto)
- Storage: SD / SDHC cards up to 128GB
- Power: 2× rechargeable AAA batteries
- Storage: 64GB, which can take 30,000 images
The Paper Shoot camera is designed for casual photographers, kids, or anyone who wants to shoot without seeing a screen. We happened to review the device and were happy to see how it piqued the interest of folks who weren’t even into photography. However, bear in mind that, given the sensor, the camera is better used at certain times. As we explained, “Let me clarify here: Paper Shoot is intended for use in daylight. Even with the black and white filter enabled (of the four options), it won’t deliver pleasing images in the dark.” However, our review also points out it is the ideal option for anyone who wants to take it easy: “If you want something that’s actually pocketable, fun, and that you can’t take with a ton of seriousness, then you’ll enjoy this. Just don’t have the highest expectations of it, and you’ll be surprised.”
Overall, given its price and what it can do, the Paper Shoot camera is an ideal way to slow down and savour each moment one day at a time.
