Camera sales have been quite exciting this year. While the battle remains between APS-C and full-frame cameras, it appears that compact cameras, too, are finding a new footing. Then there is also a tug of war between Sony and Canon, which sometimes often results in other companies like Fujifilm and Nikon also winning the game. Today is one such instance. Per a new report, Nikon cameras have found the most love in the month of August, which is more than what any brand got. Let’s have a look.
Per a report by Digital Camera World, Yodobashi Camera, one of Japan‘s leading camera retailers, has published the report of camera sales for the first half of August. This time, Nikon made it to the list four times, which is quite a lot for a brand. Here is a look at the ranking:
- Sony a7C II Zoom lens kit
- Fujifilm X-M5 XC15-45mm lens kit
- Sony a7C II body
- Nikon Z50II double zoom kit
- Canon EOS R50 double zoom kit
- Nikon Z5II body
- Canon EOS R10 RF-S18-150 IS STM lens kit
- Nikon Zfc 16-50 VR lens kit
- Sony VLOGCAM ZV-E10 II power zoom lens kit
- Nikon Z50II 16-50 VR lens kit
From the list, we can see three Nikon cameras, two Sony and two Canon models, and one Fujifilm variant. Of them, the Nikon Z50 II and the Sony a7C II are the most repeated models. However, the most common factor between them would be their size and compactness.
This also brings us to the next part: There are 7 APS-C cameras and 3 full-frame models on the list. This means that crop sensors continue to be the go-to cameras, thanks to their price, which is now driving the content creator audiences. The Z50 II is one example, as the camera is more focused on hybrid users than just photographers. Fujifilm X-M5 is another such example, whose vertical video orientation mode has won many content creators.
There is also Canon, whose APS-C kits, the R10 and the R50, continue to win. Canon is known for its cost-effective lower-end cameras and lens bundles, which sell like hotcakes during the holiday season. It seems the company is continuing to push the smaller cameras more in its campaigns, as the full-frame market is a tough nut to crack.
Nikon has changed over time, and for the better. It seems the company is trying to compete with the other two major players and managing to win, even if the wins come late. But how far will they pull this through. That remains to be seen.
