Cosina has announced a new Voigtlander macro lens for you all to start drooling over
It seems like we can’t go more than a couple of weeks lately without some new E Mount lens being announced or newly available. This time the lens in the question is from the team over at Cosina Japan, who have launched their latest Sony E- Mount compatible Voigtlander branded lens, the new Macro Apo-Lanthar 110mm F2.5 FE. This is a manual focus only lens, so that may curb some of your enthusiasm. However, the Voigtlander brand has long been known for their superb quality, so if you can get over being limited to manual focus, this looks to be an interesting release for Sony shooters.
The official release was sent out in Japanese, but from what we could gather through the Google Translated webpage, this new Voigtlander 110mm F2.5 FE is expected to be available this upcoming August and will go on sale for 148,000 yen, which converts over to around $1,300. Not a bad price for a high-quality macro lens with a decently bright maximum aperture allowing it to be dual-purposed as a portrait lens.
Voigtlander 110mm f2.5 FE Specs
- 5-F22
- 10 Aperture Blades
- 14 Elements in 12 Groups
- True 1:1 Macro
- 58mm Front Filter
- Included Lens Hood
- 771g weight
Cosina says they have optimized this lens specifically for the ‘Sony E Mount Sensor,’ allowing for excellent image quality from corner to corner with no resolution loss or color shifting near the corners. Additionally, the Voigtlander 110mm f2.5 features a 3 group floating mechanism to independently move 3 focusing groups into position for the best optical performance whether you are focusing at 35cm or near infinity.
The lens is not available for preorder yet as far as we have seen, but we will notify you once it is made available. There is also no word on official US pricing at this point, but as noted above, the direct conversion would be around $1,300, so you can likely expect a price in that ballpark.
You can check out full details on this lens over on the Cosina Japan website.
