We have all seen great photos over the course of our lives, be that images you have taken, or that you have come across that inspired you. But few images have ever reached the level of greatness to where they were ingrained into the psyche of the modern world as a whole. These are images that arenât just worth a thousand words, they are so much more than that. Many of them have changed the world and many others are copied and paid homage to.In this great little video, Viral Sap takes 10 of the worldâs greatest and most iconic images and tells us about the stories behind them. What was going on when they were taken, fun facts and notes from the photographer. It is a really interesting look at what went into making these world changing images.
One story that had a great story behind it was that of the image known as The Kiss. An image that looks to be a sailor and a woman kissing after what was the end of World War II with the surrender of Japan. But what was actually going on was this sailor was running through the streets grabbing every woman in sight â old, young, all of them â and kissing them. If you know anything more about the image, you’ll know that certain circles of beliefs really don’t condone that photo at all. It is an excellent example of how you can tell a story in one frame with little basis in reality. These days he would be lucky to not be arrested for such a display, but it was a different time then.
