In today’s highly divisive political climate it’s easy to see society’s powers-that-be as an “Other;” someone completely beyond being relatable to. Photographer Dan Bannino’s “Power and Food” helps bring some of the world’s most powerful political figures back to earth by giving us an intimate portrait of who they are through the food that they love.
Dan Bannino is an Italian-born photographer that takes ideas and turns them into images. Whether creating satirical takes on world leaders or creating images for editorial clients that are a mix of Pop Art and Renaissance painter, Bannino’s images and creativity are truly eye-catching. We’ve featured his work before more than once; but his unique and specific look is really quite evocative.
According to Bannino, “Power and Food” was, “an almost satirical take on these figures’ eating habits, created in a way a bit quirky, a bit random that it may proves that these powerful figures are simply flesh and bones like the rest of us.” His use of color and quirky compositions help to remind us that at the end of the day, the Pope is a just another member of the Order of the Slice.
