Barbara Kopple’s documentary A Story of Yesterday & Today tells the tale of Kodak’s demise framed within its affect on the city of Rochester NY, where the Eastman Kodak Company was headquartered. This short 13 minute video really shows the grim affects that the closure of the company has had on the city, the local economy, and the area in general as the region had to come to terms with the demise of such an iconic company. 

By the time the Kodak company declared bankruptcy over 55,000 people lost their jobs at the one proud photography firm. Since that time, the Kodak company ground have had buildings demolished over time as their use becomes less and less needed. If you have 13 minutes to watch the video below we highly recommend it, its really quite interesting.

One could say that the current stalwarts of the camera industry could do well to see how and where Kodak faltered to avoid making the same mistakes in regards to adapting with the market…
