It seems that dual cameras is the new ‘it’ feature for high end smartphones as Chinese manufacturer Huawei has unveiled its new Mate 9, which features dual rear facing Leica cameras.
This is not Huawei’s first smartphone with dual Leica cameras, nor is it even one of the first dual camera phones around. But it is clear that smartphone makers are starting to place priority on setting their highend phones apart from the lower budget offerings, and one way they have been doing that is by adding these multiple cameras.
The MAte M9 features Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 960 processor as well as makes use of an I6 co-processor, which should help the phones’ performance. It also has dual SIM slots and storage is expandable up to 256GB. You can also expect 2 days of ‘heavy use’ on one battery charge according to the company with that battery recharging via the USB-C connector in as little as 90 minutes.
The phone is also enormous with 5.5 inch 1440P screen which will be sure to help those images from the dual Leica (one 12MP, one 20MP) sensors look incredible. More information can be found over on Huawei’s website, here.
