The good folks behind Lenstag, which as you know is a free service that allows photographers as well as photo gear rental shops to add, verify, and protect their gear (cameras, lenses, and video equipment) by tagging them if they go missing, are at it again.
It seems that Trevor Sehrer, along with his team, has concocted a new additional (also free) feature to their already awesome handiwork. This brand new feature is called Lenstag Rescue and what it does is it checks images on the web for serial numbers and other data to match them with the ones that have been reported and flagged as stolen. This feature helps to give owners an even bigger chance of recovering their stolen gear and preventing that gear from getting resold.
Lenstag Rescue is already up and running so it’s already working for those who have reported their missing equipment to Lenstag, and the feature is automatically added to future reports and flags.
For more information about Lenstag Rescue or to download it (for Google Chrome Users only) so you can do your part in hunting down stolen equipment, check out Lenstag Rescue here.
Additionally, the Lenstag app is now available for iOS and Android users. Download the app here for iOS and here for Android.
