Recently, we reported about the leaked Olympus OM-D E-M1, which is going to be Olympus’ flagship Micro Four Thirds camera (and possibly also the solution for Four Thirds lenses.) Now, 43rumors reports that a previously patented 12-40mm f2.8 lens might be released together with the E-M1. Whether this lens will come as a kit option with the E-M1 is not clear. Also, we have no details yet as to its price, but we can only hope it won’t be more expensive than the already available (and highly praised) Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 (which we reviewed here.) It’s about time that Olympus release a large-aperture zoom lens in this focal length range, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out how this lens is different from the one that’s already available from Panasonic.
