Here is a series of announcements from the photographic company Vanguard. First off is the GH-300T Pistol Grip Ball Head, and at first it looks like a traditional grip except it has the ability to take photos while your finger is still on the trigger. The ability to take photos while you are adjusting gives you the ability to quickly capture subjects without having to move your hand from the grip to your DSLR. The shutter on the grip also has the ability to do bulb — in case you forget your release cable or remote at home. The grip comes with 2 cables, which they say will work with 80% of cameras today. So Nikon and Canon shooters should be fine, but other cables will be sold separately.
The ball head has two different modes: one for precise snapping of 360° pano images, and another that allows you to freely track moving subjects. This also allows it to smoothly work for videographers doing pans. It can handle up to 17.5 pounds so needless to say it will work great with your rebel and kit lens up to the big daddy lenses that those sports guys use in those Canon ads. Since we all want to be like those photographers, you can get this grip and hold onto Jack whenever you want for $199.
Along with the grip that every gangsta photographer will want to pack they have also announced new tripods, video heads, and a camera bag.
ABEO Pro tripod
Above is the ABEO Pro tripod and no, it is not broken. The column is actually designed to move from 0-180° angles for unique positions to make certain types of shooting (chiefly macro) easier. The column is easily adjusted with its “Instant Swivel Stop-n-Lock” (ISSL — not related to the International Space Station), which can be unlocked and locked within a few seconds. Just flip it open, move column where it is desired and then flip it back.
The tripods legs have 3-in-1 all-terrain feet which can handle any surface with the option of angled rubber, spikes, and a set of snow/sand shoes. The ABEO Pro 283 tripod with GH-300T head is available in carbon fiber or aluminum at street prices ranging from $399.99 – $549.99.
ABEO Plus 323AV tripod with fluid video head
The new tripod here is the 323AV and the video pan head is the PH-123V. Together they provide the ability to do smooth panning and tilting while recording video. The head has a spring loaded counterbalance system that makes it easy to work with heavier equipment up to 17.5 pounds.
The legs of the 323AV have Tension Adjustable Leg Locks that allow you to tighten them as they become loose over time. The legs also feature similar feet as the previous tripod compatible with different environments. The ABEO Plus 323 aluminum tripod with PH-123V video head is available at a street price of $379.99.
Vanguard Vojo photo-video bags
Here are a few new bags from Vanguard labeled as their Vojo series. The 22 and 25 model can hold your camera gear as well as a tablet, whereas model 28 can also pack a compact 13″ computer. Inside the bag you will find a soft removable bag which can be removed so you can use the bag while leaving your camera gear at home.
If you do get outside in the weather, the bag does have a built in rain cover to protect your goodies on the inside. The Vojo shoulder bags come in green or black and are available in three sizes at street prices of $119.99 – $159.99.
