Everyone is getting in on the Photokina product launch game. Tamron has announced a replacement for their version one 90mm macro f2.8 lens. The new version is actually quite an upgrade from the original and adds quite a few features like vibration control and their Ultrasonic Silent Drive with Internal Focus instead of the old noisy motor. The IF feature doesn’t have moving front lens elements which help keep the distance between the subject and lens the same regardless of focus distance. The lens also adds moisture resistant construction which is said to help weather proofing the lens a bit.
This lens is actually well known for being an excellent sharp 1:1 macro lens and these upgrades are very welcome. This lens is set to launch late this year and the price has yet to be announced, full specs and press release can be found here.
