A lazy Saturday and I had the urge to get into nature a little. I am no Art Wolfe or Ansel Adams but I do enjoy and taking landscape photos. One of my goals in Photography is to create a collection of landscapes in New Jersey. Landscape photography can be very Wabi Sabi (imperfect temporary beauty). The Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S RF SWM lensis a great lens for capturing this.

The Wide Angle
In nature, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm can help to deliver a lot of subtle color. On my Nikon D90 the lens has 61° angle of view and provided a large amount of detail. I was shooting from f/4 to f/11 in daylight, hand held, with a 3 year old at my side and it was a nice experience.

Nature Up Close
The lens gave excellent detail with good bokeh, or blurriness in the back ground. Using a shallow depth of field was great. As usual with this lens the autofocusing was spot on.

Ergonomics in the Field
Even with its large size and weight, the lens was no issue. It was also very comfortable at the reservation and I was there for about an hour. I used autofocus, so I just held the lens when I needed extra stability in shooting. I have yet to get this lens on a tripod, but that will happen.
