The Arctic remains one of the most mesmerizing locations for landscape photographers: its frozen landscapes are among the most mysterious, intriguing, and moody subjects to capture. If it’s one of your dream destinations to photograph, you will definitely be inspired by the serene landscape photography of Harstad-based photographer, artist, and graphic designer Bjørg-Elise Tuppen in the Arctic region of Northern Norway.
We’ve seen from previous features just how fascinating the Arctic is. Maria Sahai, for example, shared with us some of her best landscape and nature photography that is no less an ode to the Arctic. Likewise, Jan Erik Waider has been captivated by the northernmost parts of the globe. He captures travelers’ attention with his expeditions throughout the Nordic landscapes, which lead to projects like the moody Arctic Silence.
Apart from the unique charm of the natural landscapes, Bjørg-Elise also captured the otherwordly beauty of the moon set against the pastel skies of the Arctic Norway. The result is a beautiful collection she aptly called Moments With the Moon. The title suggests that we focus our eyes on the lone, cratered satellite that has been circling the Earth since time immemorial. We can also see each photograph as quiet moments she spent admiring the entire scenery made even more captivating by the gentle glow of the moon in the distance.
I find the combination of the variety of landscapes and the different phases of the moon to be the strength of this collection. As we see the different terrains, mountains, and the scenes in each photo, the moon is also there in its different phases. All of the photos would be eye-catching on their own, but they’re even more enchanting with the serene and radiant presence of the moon.
