This is what happens when you combine an Olympus OMD series camera with the Sigma 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 lens and a Kippon adapter. It’s huge–but considering the 2x crop factor involved here, you’re getting a heck of a super zoom lens., Essentially this lens becomes a 100-1,000mm zoom lens offering with full autofocus capabilities.
Believe it or not, this isn’t uncommon.
As Redditor Gone_mad tells us, there are other, more fantastic photographers that have similar setups to what he totes around.
Why? It’s often more affordable and does the trick well enough for lots of photographers going out there to photograph wildlife. They need the telephoto coverage and have to ensure they get their subject perfectly in focus. This zoom range does more than enough of a good job.
