Well, the world is one step closer to that fabled 10-200mm F/1 all in one super zoom lens that every gear cry baby on the internet wants. Today Sony unveiled a monster of a lens in their new 18-110mm F/4 E mount zoom.
This APS-C/Super 35mm compatible lens offers a constant F/4 throughout its entire zoom range, as well as image stabilization making this lens very attractive to video professionals utilizing Sony E Mount cameras like the FS7 and A6300. It will mount and work with the A7 series cameras as well, but only in crop mode.
The lens features three control rings for operators to modify the Iris/Aperture, Focus, and Zoom. It is also dust and moisture resistant, while also being just the second lens to feature Sony’s Smooth Motion Optics technology, which limits unwanted focus or image shifts while focusing or zooming the lens.
The Sony E PZ 18-110mm F/4 G OSS also features powerzoom capability, making it not only incredibly versatile, but incredibly easy to operate with small crews or one man operations. One aspect of this lens that won’t be a surprise, given its versatility and max aperture, is the hit that it will be to your wallet.
According to the Sony press release, the PZ 18-110mm F/4 G OSS will be available in November of 2016 for a retail price of $3,500. You can learn more about this lens by checking out Sony’s website.
