To be honest, there are many ways to carry your camera and many accessories to go with them. Not all of them are good. However, something comes along and makes me take a pause because it is just what we need or want. That is where the C-Plate comes in. I was introduced to the product at Photo Plus earlier this year then was sent a prototype from their Kickstarter project and I have put it through its paces.

There is still time to get in on the KickStarter Project as well. There have been some backer upgrades as well. Check them out.

Custom Brackets Puts Their New C-Plate on Kickstarter

At Photo Plus Expo 2013 I met the folks from Custom Brackets. They saw me using my BlackRapid Strap and they pulled me aside to show me something. It was the Prototype to their C-Plate. This American made camera plate for sling straps is customizable. It works with either Arca-Swiss style or Manfrotto RC2 series quick release type tripods.

The C-Plate also works with Sling straps and holsters so they don’t twist around. The C-Plate is built to always have the assembly tool available by having the allen wrench is  stored within the camera plate. The C-Plate doesn’t block access to the battery door either. The C-Plate sits flat and never requires you to take your shoulder strap or holster pin off the plate. This is because the connection point is offset. The prototype of C-Plate weighs only 2.2 oz. and they expect to cut it down to less than 2 oz. in final production.

The prototype that I got to play with really caught my interest and is now a KickStarter project. the funding period is Nov 5, 2013 – Dec 10, 2013 (35 days). I tend to be cautious how I carry my cameras and I was comfortable with the build of the prototype. More details are after the jump.
