“My intention is to get the viewer interested in what the model is thinking,” says Dorota Gorecka of Poland when I ask her what gets people so engrossed in her portraits of women. She began playing with photography equipment in the unused studio at the advertising agency she worked at. Spending more and more time here led to her getting hooked on photography. She specializes in working under natural light conditions and working with models to produce moody photographs.

“I made the first ‘Treat Shots’ with my dog Lotte,” the photographer Christian Vieler remembers. He’d just ordered his first portable flash, and since she was always available, Lotte served as the perfect test model. During their shoots, he got into the habit of tossing her a treat, and he soon started doing the same with all his canine clients at the end of their sessions. It was fun for the dogs to get a reward, and whether the dog caught the treat or not, the photos always proved delightful.
Continue reading…If I had the money I have today, I would absolutely have bought these cameras.
First and foremost, I’m not rich. But, compare my current income to when I was younger and it’s safe to say I’m doing okay. When money was scarce, I would visit my local photography store, salivating and longing for cameras that my bank balance would not allow. Like Wayne Cambell fantasizing over his dream guitar, I would look at my favorite camera and say, “Oh yes, she will be mine.” So, without further ado, here are five cameras I dreamed of owning when I was broke.

Early specifications of the EOS 3D are expected to be “broadly similar” to the 5D Mark III, except with a “much higher” resolution sensor capable of 4K video capture. If the camera is real, it could be perfect for professional photographers who need a high-resolution sensors for billboard-sized prints. Alternatively, studio productions could take advantage of the camera’s ability to produce 4K footage.
The new camera has been suggested to come out in late 2015 for a much higher price than the 5D Mark III. However, Canon Rumors is skeptical about the 3D moniker as it’s a name that’s been long rumored. More likely the designation could just be a test unit name for a new Canon 5D Mark IV.
Canon Rumors was also tipped off that we might not see any new Canon DSLR announcements for NAB 2014, which begins just next week starting April 5th. It should be interesting to see what Canon has coming down the pipe for this year with so many shows including Photokina in September.
