We feel, and most others agree, that the Olympus PEN-F was one of the most beautiful cameras to come out in the last year and a half or so. The craftsmanship, build quality, and all of the aesthetics were on point and top notch.
Unfortunately, we also felt, and many agreed, that the price was a little high based on what you were getting from an image quality and performance standpoint. Most of our thoughts focused on the still image portion of the camera, but how about its video? Well, it is certainly not meant to be a primary video camera for a video focused creative, but how about for those just looking to capture some good video clips here and there?
Well, Vimeo user Jamie Brown recently posted some sample footage shot with the Olympus PEN-F, and we have to say, it looks pretty damn good. That is not to say that you should run out and grab a PEN-F for your next video project, but it’s good to know that this stylish little camera is capable of some quality video if you know what you are doing in terms of video production.
The price on the PEN-F was always more of the issue in our eyes than the performance issues: it was simply just too expensive. So again, don’t run out and grab one based on this, but if you were considering one and were curious about its video quality, this is a pretty good example of what the camera can do.
