The Kodak EKTRA Phone Has A Dedicated Shutter Button & Stabilized F/2 Lens

Kodak, one of the most well known photography brands in the world is getting into the smartphone game, and just as you would expect, the camera and imaging capabilities are the headline features. 

The Kodak EKTRA as it is called, maybe a play on their well known EKTAR film, is designed from top to bottom to be optimized for capturing moments while you are out in the world. As far as tech specs, the EKTRA features a 21MP sensor, phase-detection AF, and an image stabilized 26.5mm F/2 lens. You also get a 3000mAh battery, 3GB of internal memory, 32 GB of internal storage (expandable up with micro-SD), and a 5″1080p gorilla glass display.

For you video nuts, the EKTRA also has 4K video recording, which is clearly a must have by any specialized phone these days. Kodak has also thrown in full manual mode as well as a digital on-screen ‘dslr-like’ mode dial to change your shooting modes.

In terms of the design, the EKTRA’s lens has a steel rim, and the rest of the phone has this textured leather looking finish. Kodak says that it looks and feels like a camera with character, we will just have to wait and see how the consumers react to the phone. Beyond its somewhat unique design, you will notice that the EKTRA has a dedicated shutter button, not totally unique in the phone world, but certainly not a common feature these days.
