Canon’s got a bevy of new products in the pipeline, and one of them is the lens you see here. The 11-24mm f4 L USM joins a family of f4 L glass, and it’ll be the lens of choice for many architectural and event photographers. While this lens will work with any EOS camera, it’s been designed to work best on full-frame cameras, particularly Canon’s new behemoths: the 5DS and 5DS R.
The 11-24mm f4 has a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches, and it sports 16 elements in 11 groups, four of which are aspherical to help reduce distortion throughout the zoom range. It also has a Super-UD (Ultra-low dispersion) element and an UD element to knock out chromatic aberration.
The lens also comes with a 9-blade aperture, and while it’s hard to get any bokeh worth writing home about with a lens this wide, we’re sure that you’ll get something good if you can get close enough. The 11-24mm also comes with improved autofocus, which’ll be a boon for anyone photographing events, concerts and the like.
This lens will arrive later this month for $2,999.00.
