New early reports coming from Canon Rumors say the 7D Mark II could be a bit different with the camera featuring a new top plate sans the mode dial. Supposedly the 7D Mark II’s new top plate will follow the EOS 1D Mark IV’s styling, which replaces the mode dial with a button. Despite this aesthetic change, Canon will purportedly still include a pop-up flash. The same source also says the camera will have Wi-Fi and GPS built into the camera, whereas Wi-Fi thus far has been reported to be an optional model.
Recent rumors picked up by Canon Watch claimed the new prosumer DSLR might not even be named the EOS 7D Mark II. So the new styling might be all part of the rebranding the camera. We’ve also heard the camera will utilize a 20.3MP sensor, 19-point phase detect autofocus system, 8fps burst mode backed up with a 15 RAW image and 126 JPEG buffer, plus a 1040k dot touchscreen.
Rumors about the Canon 7D Mark II are flying wild and fast so we’re going to take anything we hear about the new camera with a grain of salt. That’s said, we’re still hopeful that we’ll see it at the FIFA World Cup (which starts today!) and then officially announced later this year at Photokina.
