Nikon has some wonderful lenses in its portfolio. The company has the 18-300mm, the 70-200mm f2.8E, and the 200-500mm f5.6 are some options that one can rely on. For bird photographers, there are some options one can choose from, and this is perhaps the best option out there.
The lens we are talking about is the Nikon 180-600mm f5-6.3 VR, which is a large lens but perfect for birding enthusiasts. The lens is designed with 25 lens elements in 17 groups, has vibration reduction, 9 aperture blades, and can focus over 4 feet or infinity to 18 feet away. The lens is also lightweight, weighing just 1955g, and can be held with ease. The internal zoom helps with keeping the lens the same. With a teleconverters, the lens can extend as much as 840mm or 1200mm.

The Nikon lens features weather resistance, has some easy buttons around the lens, and it feels light in your hands. The lens is durable, and can withstand any environment. The metal feel of the lens looks nice, and it can feel lighter than Canon RF 100-500mm, especially when put together with the Nikon Z8.
The Nikon 180-600mm f5-6.3 VR functions pretty well with the Z8. It is fast, and can nail the birds with ease. In fact, there have been instances where the birds in the branches were able to be captured. As we added in our review:
However, I truly mean it when I say this. What impressed me the most is how fast the lens focused when focusing at a close range to the end of its range. Several lenses that we’ve used have had problems here. But the Nikon 180-600mm f5-6.3 VR nailed it. Believe it or not, this one lens alone instilled confidence in me that I hadn’t previously had with Nikon lenses and cameras before.
The Nikon lens was a pre-production unit and so, the colors we received were pretty good. The RAW files can be opened with ease, and with editing, you can bring out the images. The lens offers super clean images, and lacks some character. Priced at $2200, the lens is perfect for professional photographers who like sharpness and good clarity. If you are someone who already has a good full frame camera, this lens can be of help.
