Many photographers today prefer retro-style cameras. One of the reasons for going back to this is the saturation point many are facing due to the plateau the industry has hit. Retro-looking cameras also offer portability while promising unique image quality. If you are looking to purchase a camera of this type, these options can be helpful.
Fujifilm X-T2

The X-T2 features a 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor, a burst rate of 11 fps, and the same design as the XT-1. On top, you get multiple dials, such as for ISO dial, shutter, and exposure compensation. There are loads of weather seals, which make it ideal for outdoor shoots. In addition, the autofocus is quick and can nail any shot, even in strong backlighting. The RAW files are great, and the high ISO images are exceptional as well. It’s a camera that won’t disappoint. As we explained in our review, “The build quality is top-notch, and that continues to add to its reliability as we found after dropping the camera. The overall ergonomics will appeal to so many people.”
Olympus Pen F

A cult-classic camera, the Olympus Pen F features a 20MP Micro Four Thirds sensor, a 2.35MP EVF, and can create 80MP JPEG images. The design is inspired by the original Pen F and features multiple dials and a stylish leather cover. As we said in our review, “Everything is designed to look very analog and Olympus did a fantastic job of embracing the aesthetics. The only camera that comes close here is the Fujifilm X Pro 2, but its ergonomics aren’t overall as great as this.” It also focuses fairly quickly, and it is best known for its black and white creative filters. If you want a camera that gives nice, grainy results, this one is worth taking.
Leica M-D

One of the most expensive offerings on this list, the Leica M-D is a perfect camera for anyone who wants the feel of analog devices. The M-D, as shown above, lacks an LCD screen, so you will not know what you shot until the end. It is far simpler designed as well, featuring a shutter speed dial, an on/off switch, and a custom function button. Manual focusing means you are more grounded when you take photos. With the 24MP sensor, you get “lots of really cool capabilities like lots of dynamic range, color depth.” The device is everything any professional photographer has ever thought of.
Despite the years that have passed, each of these cameras continues to have a following. If you can set aside some savings and get them, then you certainly must.
